Velocity 2X (PS4, Vita) - September 2

Downloading this on my PS4 as I type (its this month's PS Plus title). Will have the review ready on Monday. I'm a big fan or the original two games and 2X (or however you want to pronounce that) looks like it'll definitely deliver a fun time.

Dead Rising 3(PC) - September 5

Played this for a few hours late last year and wasn't terribly fond of it. It's Dead Rising stripped of everything that made the first two so easy to like. It's overly grim, takes itself way to seriously and there's some parts of the combat that are outright broken. You could still do far worse for a zombie game, but I'd recommend waiting for this one to enter the bargain bin.

Planetary Annihilation (PC) - September 5

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enzglv8sLn8

This title was Kickstarted quite a while ago and has been in beta for the past year or so. Responses have been mixed all round but I'm highly optimistic for the full release. It's predecessor Total Annihilation was grand action strategy done right. It was easily accessible and brimming with depth and I'm keen to see how the concept's being expanded upon

Destiny (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3) - September 9

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv7vqCmt6wY

Bungie's biggest game ever is poised to hit shelves next week and I'm equally excited and worried at the future of this game. It has such a great pool of potential to become a stellar MMO, but looking at how the business model is being approached (they're already hyping up the first expansion due this December) I can't help but feel that Destiny is going to burn out in a matter of months.

FIFA 15 (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC) - September 23

Sports.

Gauntlet (PC) - September 23

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tsYnPeZZrU

The granddaddy of co-operative dungeon crawlers makes its return this month. The original Gauntle influenced every action RPG that followed in its wake for decades, everything from Diablo to Sacred took inspiration from the original and it's high time for a remake to expand on the arcade game.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (PC) - September 25

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7COdzLPyeT0

Despite there being a lot of excitement around this game, no-one really know what it is yet. The only thing you can really find are story trailers that show little to no actual gameplay. Still the writing and voice acting in the trailers makes it seem like the game will certainly spin an interesting yarn. The fact that no gameplay has been shown though, makes it one to be weary of.

Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) - September 26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwQK4dX-fpQ

I don't know why it took Nintendo this long to create a game in this vein for Zelda, but there most certainly doing a stellar job of it judging from the trailers. The Dynasty Warriors gameplay style is perfect to translate to the Zelda universe, with it's large roster of characters, enemies and settings. This is the biggest WiiU title of the year and most certainly the biggest one of the month. Its also served to make me all the more disappointed that Dynasty Warriors 8 hasn't seen local release yet.

Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One, 360) - September 30

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Q02SZkVCM

Forza Horizon 2 takes players on an automotive tour through Southern Europe. A lot of long time Forza fans did not take to the original Horizan that much, but I really enjoyed the more lite take on the series that it offered and I wouldn't say no to more of that brand of racing gameplay in a series that can be overly complex at the best of times.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - September 30

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFgvvgGEpkQ

My most anticipated title of the month is without a doubt Monolith's Tolkien based open world action adventure. I've had an eye on this since it's announcement and it looks oh so promising. The nemesis system (of which you can see a showcase in the trailer above) is brilliant in concept and I'm really hoping it executes on all of its potential. The setting is one we've never really got to explore in any of the Tolkien stories and I'm as a massive fan of the Middle-Earth lore I'm giddy at the prospect of exploring Mordor. A word of warning though: the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of this game does not include the full Nemesis system, so if you've been planning to grab it on one of those platforms I'd strongly recommend waiting it out until you can get the PC, PS4 or Xbox One versions as it seems to be the cornerstone of the game.
